We are delighted to announce that the Future Entrepreneur 2023 title and $1,000 prize has been won by thirteen-year-old Win Depar Htun from International Kids Academy, Myanmar, closely followed by team Twice Wear from Belmont Mill Hill, UK, who will receive the $500 runner up prize.
This year the Future Entrepreneur competition was closer than ever with superb entries from all of our finalists. Our independent panel of judges scored on a range of entrepreneurial criteria and thirteen-year-old Win secured the title with his sustainable social enterprise business Byamaso Nipa Tea and his plan to introduce Nipa tea to international markets.
Judges comments:
Judge Lesley Li, CEO and founder of U Impact | Impact4good, said, “I like the link to local farmers and paying fair prices for their produce. I like how he recognised that increased demand would increase prices, as it is harder to scale production of the Nipa tea”.
Michael Buchan, Senior Lecturer, University of Portsmouth, added, “A good view of a tricky industry, SWOT realistic and attention paid not just to the positive elements. A fascinating brew of innovation, health benefits and social benefit into a refreshing proposal”.
Philip Salter, founder of the Entrepreneurs Network, commented, “Great idea! This looks like a great product. The focus on marketing and sales makes a lot of sense".
Well done Win, congratulations from all the ABE Endorsed KidsMBA team!
The runners-up
Win was closely followed by a year 8 team from the UK called Twice Wear, who also put together a great presentation and impressed the judges with their realistic and eco-friendly business proposal to resell second-hand school uniforms.
Judges comments:
Philip Salter said, “A very clear and thorough presentation! It would help tackle a real problem for many people who struggle with expensive uniforms."
Michael Buchan added, “An excellent localised and modest project with a possible franchise view for other such locations. Taking advantage of the local footprint has allowed a close ethical and environmental advantage to be developed.”
With Lesley Li commenting, “Definitely addressing a real problem, and plays strongly with the cost of living challenges (and sustainability purpose). I like the 2-way model (with the app for adding clothes, and for buying them)”
Full congratulations to Twice Wear from all at ABE Endorsed KidsMBA and, once again well done to all our other finalists:
