Hamida Mussah has chosen to study ABE because it offers her the flexibility to decide whether she wants to work or start her own business. Upon completion of her ABE studies, she intends to pursue a degree in Business Administration. Her ultimate goal is to apply the skills and knowledge gained from her studies to open her own business in the future. You can read Hamida's full story below:
''I was born and raised in Mangochi, a district in the southern region of Malawi. I am the second-born child. My parents and my older sister are my greatest supporters, they constantly keep on reminding the importance of education and support me emotionally as well when things get tough. Currently, I am pursuing an advanced diploma in business management with ABE. In the future, I plan to pursue a degree in Business Administration.
Growing up I was not passionate about any field or career I would constantly switch from wanting to be a doctor to a teacher to an actress to a writer. It was not until something major happened at home that I carefully thought of what I wanted to do in life and business was what came to mind. I realised that even if I did not work for big companies, I could use the knowledge acquired and start my own business and support myself and my loved ones. So, I decided to pursue a diploma in business management first and what better way to that is there if not ABE.
I am currently studying the ABE course at The International College of Business Management which is in Blantyre, Malawi.
As far as I know, ABE is well known and has a good reputation among the public, and many employers agree that pursuing a diploma through ABE is also a good choice.
My wish and plan after finishing the ABE qualification is to pursue a degree in Business Administration, but that will happen only If the circumstances are ideal, and resources are available.
The best thing about studying with ABE is that if I complete my ABE qualification and my plan to continue with my studies is put on hold, I could find work with my ABE qualification as some employers have a good impression of ABE.
Firstly, the system of open book exams has helped improve my computer skills. Studying with ABE has also helped me become expressive when I am in a group as I was an introvert in groups before. And lastly, ABE has helped me in acquiring saving and planning skills. I plan and manage the little finances that I have and then also save for future use.
My tip for a successful study is reviewing. This is what I have been telling myself lately as well no matter what always review what I learn in class, and I should not wait until exams because things do get tough when I do that.
In the long run, I first want to start by working in a company so that I can gain experience and know exactly how to apply what I learned on the ground, and in the future, I want to start my own business from scratch and grow with it.''
