Sarah plans to gain work experience before going on to higher level studies. She says, "I chose to study ABE because it was a strong programme in the field I was interested in and I knew that it would help me gain high levels of academic success". Here's her story:
My name is Sarah Kristen Singh. I am 18 years old, born and raised in the beautiful islands of Trinidad and Tobago. My parents are very supportive of my studies at CTS College and always encourage me to do my best. I have 7 CXC O’ level passes and now I am working towards my ABE Diploma in Business Management and Human Resources.
I chose to study ABE because it was a strong programme in the field I was interested in and I knew that it would help me gain high levels of academic success. Employers and the public view ABE as a reputable programme that prepares its students with the necessary knowledge and skills to advance in the business world.
After I complete my ABE Level 5 qualification I plan to look for a job and gain enough experience to start my Bachelors degree or Level 6 Diploma. The best thing about studying with ABE is the abundance of resources available for students. ABE has a wide range of materials to support students with specific assignments or exams.
So far I have learnt business management skills such as financial analysis, strategic planning and decision-making, leadership and teamwork abilities, problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, organisation skills, and understanding of professional conduct and ethics along with a variety of other skills and knowledge.
Paying attention in class and taking my own personal notes has helped me a lot. Since I am breaking down the material and making it more manageable, this helps me retain the information better while learning at my own pace. In addition, time management is very important since you must balance assignments with other responsibilities.
My long-term career plans involve continuing my studies to gain a deeper understanding of my chosen field and working my way up in an esteemed organisation.
