Trinity chose ABE for its international recognition and its reputation in Malawi. She believes ABE not only provides knowledge for employment but also helps to apply the gained knowledge in other areas of life. Here is her full story:
I am Trinity Kamenya, aged 21 from Likoma, Malawi but currently am in Zomba where I am doing my studies. I am the third born in a family of five children (four girls and a boy) and I have both parents who are in Nkhotakota, Malawi. My father is a Human Resource Officer whilst my mother is a businesswoman. As of now, I am in my final year of completing my advanced diploma in Human Resource Management and Business Management and I was so surprised with the news that I am the Top Paper winner in Employee Engagement. I also obtained a Malawi School Certificate of Education from Nanthomba Community Day Secondary School in 2019. In terms of employment, I have just started working this month as a cleaner and a teacher at an academy.
I chose ABE because, with this qualification, it will be easy for me to apply to any job opportunity in any country I want as it is recognised internationally. This is the best and most suitable board in Malawi for business qualifications like Human Resource Management, Marketing, and Business Management.
The public and employers in Malawi have a good impression of ABE as it possesses a wide range of knowledge in business perspectives as well as outside studies.
As I am working, I am saving up some finances (business capital) to start up a business when I have completed my studies in November, and I will also help my mother to run her business in an effective and efficacy way. Furthermore, starting next year, I will be doing my internships so that I can implement everything I have learned from ABE studies.
ABE does not only provide studies that will help you to occupy a job somewhere but it also helps you to apply what you have gained from it apart from at work, for example in level 6 we have a subject named Business Ethics and Sustainability, according to my point of view this subject reflects that as a manager as well as a human being you need to be ethical which means everywhere we go, work, stay and interact, we need to show ethical standards and manners, which are vital in our daily lives.
There are several skills I have gained from studying with ABE, for instance as a teacher, I know how to engage my students, motivate them, and evaluate their performance and as a cleaner, I know how to use other skills, e.g., time management, flexibility, collaboration, cooperation, ethicality, achievement drive and many more.
My tips for a successful study are as follows:
- God first as I believe in him.
- Time management.
- Adequate study and if there are some areas you don’t understand you can consult a lecturer for help or books that can provide simplified information on such areas.
- Working in a group also helps.
- Do not over-study as it is vital to have some refreshments.
- There is a need to source or have different information from several sources as it helps to increase your knowledge capacity and you are able to come up with different views or ideas in different areas.
Besides getting a job, I would like to go further with my studies, but my wish is to do my upgrading abroad. My other plan is to be a successful businesswoman globally as well as to empower and support education for young girls in different countries especially in Africa.
