''I am Wongani Kachulu from Malawi in Rumphi district, I belong to the Kachulu family. I have a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) and an Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management from ABE. I am currently doing industrial attachment at Mchenga Coal Mines (LTD) as an Assistant Human Officer.
I chose to study with ABE because my sister was studying Business Management with ABE, and she is working with Mota-Engel multinational company as a Business Manager. She encouraged me that the ABE qualification helps students to build their careers. ABE provides top-up to university quickly as ABE qualification carry academic credits that match the stages of a degree. ABE helps students to be transformational leaders that help organisations to be agile, resilient, and allows applying for jobs in any country because it has international recognition and helps most entrepreneurs to be creative, innovative, and competitive in the market.
I was studying my ABE course at Mzuzu Technical College. The public and employers recognise ABE as the best professional body in Malawi because students that have completed ABE studies, bring changes to many companies because they acquire skills, knowledge, and capability required by employers, they can make an informed decision, they understand globalisation and they can help an organisation to be agile to respond to competition. Most employers demand ABE students because they have the practical skills required by employers, self-confidence, strategic understanding of the business to build resilience, and creativity that help bring great changes to companies. The public acknowledges that students who have graduated from ABE offer great a value proposition to potential employers because they possess a wide range of skills, knowledge and competencies required.
After completing my ABE qualification, I am planning to top up to a Masters degree for my professional development to gain more knowledge and skills to progress to a Human Resource Business Partner role.
The best thing about studying with ABE is that ABE helps students to be resourceful in doing their research by using their study modules that are well structured to help students get good grades. The skills that I have gained from ABE include communication skills, leadership skills, people management skills, change management skills, organisation and planning skills and time management, teamwork, adaptability, and problem-solving skills which I can apply in the workplace and the employers can see that there has been a change in my performance.
I want to understand the industry as a whole to work with large companies as a Human Resource Business Partner. I am going to develop good leadership skills by engaging myself in training leadership programmes, which will improve my people management and communication skills to achieve my professional development goals.
My tips for a successful study with ABE are that ABE encourages presentations to share information and students should make much effort to work hard because it is not easy to get an ABE qualification.''
